READ: Genesis chapters 15-26
CONSIDER: Genesis 17:23 - "On that very day." Abraham was a man of immediate action. He didn't wait or hesitate when God told him to do something. Lot, on the other hand, was completely different. You see him hesitating (19:16) and even questioned God's instructions (19:18-20). This explains why Lot was visited by angels (19:1) and Abraham was visited by the Lord Himself!
Ok, I thought it was hilarious to think from Gen. 17:23-27, that he circumcised that day....."Come everyone, I would like to have a family meeting" as he says with knife in hand. Did any of them run? Especially the older ones? Anyway, I thought that to be a funny scenario! And too, that they respected him enough to allow him to do it!!!!
ReplyDeleteThats great perspective! How many grown children would allow their father to talk them into something like that today? :)
