Day 8

One week is complete! How has your journey been so far? Remember you have 6 grace days built into your schedule that you can use anytime in place of a reading day.

CONSIDER: Leviticus 1:4 - The transferring of sin, and the substitutionary sacrifice of animals was life (blood) for death (sin). This purification process allowed the Israelites to be right with God, and was a foreshadowing of the transfer of our sin to Jesus Christ. This is shown in His substitutionary death in our place on the Cross to bring us into right standing with God. Our sin, guilt and death was place on Jesus, and His perfect righteousness and innocence was given to us in exchange.

ACT: Remember what God has done. His provision has allowed us to know Him and have relationship with Him. Today spend time in prayer thanking Him for the great sacrifice of His son.

  1. Before I started reading Leviticus I read a commentary at the beginning in my bible and it was saying how this book is about worship and how important it really is to God that we worship. Think about how powerful the fragrance/aroma must have been during the sacrifices. You know how sometimes you smell a certain smell and it brings back a memory or a good feeling. I wonder what the people were thinking when they smelled the sacrifices being made for their sins. Did it help them to change because they felt convicted? Did it help them to be thankful that God is merciful? Did it put them in a good mood to love one another? At any case, eventhough the aroma was a result of the sacrifice it still casued teh people to get their focus in the right place, that is on God. Our prayers today are a fragrance to God, oh and look up this verse 2 Cor. 2:15. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ every form of worship we do goes to God but as a result of our form of worship it gets our focus on God. I want my worhsip to smell good to the Almighty and I want to stay focused.
